Even though this movement was first established in 2013 it is something that we as people of colour have had to voice for hundreds of thousands of years.
Recently , the brutal murder of 46 year old Black man , George Floyd , has caused an outrage not only over Social media but also all across the world. This has caused an outbreak of protests in the United States and also in other countries around the world due to this being another example of a person of colour dying in the hands of police officers due to their race.
Now the Black Lives Matter movement was established to give a voice to those who are not able to speak for themselves and also to eliminate white supremacy and also to give power to black communities to intervene in violence inflicted on Black people by 7the state and/or province.
This movement has grown over the years due to an increase in the number of BLACK PEOPLE dying in the hands of Police officers because they were believed to be "Armed and Dangerous" even though most of the people killed were either complying to the law or falsely arrested/accused.
The #BLACKLIVESMATTERMOVEMENT is seen as a cry from the black communities to the government to say that there should be a decrease in statistical numbers that show that black people are twice as likely to be victim to police brutality than the average white man woman.
